Domestic Violence Awareness Month

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is held nationally throughout the month of October in an effort to raise awareness of the systemic problem of domestic violence in our Nation. Intimate partner violence is one of the most prevalent, yet underreported crimes in the State of Alabama and the Nation. Members of the Alabama District Attorneys Association work on the front lines endeavoring to protect victims and hold offenders of domestic violence accountable for their actions.

Domestic violence has long-term consequences emotionally, mentally, socially, spiritually, and physically. This type of violence harms the core of the human spirit and jeopardizes the future well-being of victims and families in our communities. The Alabama District Attorneys Association’s goal is to seek justice for victims of domestic violence and to work in partnership with domestic violence victim advocates to empower victims and break the cycle of violence that all to often had tragic consequences. We urge you to join us in this fight."

– Chris Connolly, President of the Alabama District Attorneys Association
