Volunteers Gift Landscaping

Members of the Lauderdale County Special Programming for Achievement Network (SPAN) recently moved soil into raised flower beds which they built along the outside walls of OnePlace of the Shoals. This work was part of an overall three-day project sponsored by the Shoals Master Gardeners to landscape the outside of our family justice center.

John Norton, a member of the Shoals Master Gardeners, came up with the idea, and Martha Berryhill, another member, designed the layout. Various local volunteers and businesses furnished the labor and supplies, including St. James United Methodist Church's youth group, members of the Florence Police Department, Crossfit No'Ala, SPAN, Green Valley Nursery and Lowe's.

What an incredible gift to our community, to OnePlace, and to the people we serve! Our many thanks to everyone involved. Volunteers make such a difference!
